Coach your bot like a teammate
Behavior settings let you nudge Ultimo responses without touching code. Write plain-language prompts -- our training layer takes care of the rest. The number of behaviors you can add depends on your plan.
Why behaviors matter
Fine-grained control
Each behavior card is a short instruction that tweaks tone, length, or actions. Keep them focused and stack multiple cards for layered control.
Live status feedback
Icons show whether training succeeded, is in progress, or failed with a decline reason. Tooltips provide extra context.
Character-friendly limits
Most bots can use up to 250 characters per behavior (select plans support 1,500). The interface tracks your count in real time.
Real-time updates
The portal listens to WebSocket events -- once a behavior finishes training, the list updates instantly without refreshing.
Plan-based behavior limits
The number of behaviors you can add depends on your plan: Free allows 1, Smart allows 3, Boost allows 10, and Ultimo allows up to 30. If you have been grandfathered into a previous plan, your existing behaviors are preserved.
Bulk delete
Select multiple behaviors at once and delete them in a single action. This is useful when you want to clean up outdated instructions quickly.
How to add or edit behaviors
Open Settings > Behavior and review existing instructions.
Click Add Behavior and describe the adjustment you want.
Submit and let the spinner finish; you will see a success icon when the instruction goes live.
Use the delete icon to retire outdated behaviors. You can add a new one immediately afterward.
To delete multiple behaviors at once, select them using the checkboxes and use the bulk delete action.
Example prompts
- Keep answers under 80 words and avoid bullet points.
- If someone asks for pricing, invite them to book a demo.
- Respond in German unless the user types in English.
- Never promise legal advice; encourage contacting our support email instead.
Best practices
- Break long guidance into smaller behaviors so each one trains faster and is easier to reuse.
- Use the Testing page to verify your tone changes before rolling them out to customers.
- If a behavior fails, hover the red icon to read the decline reason -- usually a formatting issue or length limit.
- Name sensitive escalation paths to keep humans in the loop when needed.
- Check your plan limits before adding new behaviors. Upgrade to unlock more slots.
